Subject Specialist Networks
The subject specialist networks, funded through the Renaissance in the Regions programme, are now beginning to think about cataloguing their digital resources in MICHAEL. I've been contacted recently by one of the SSNs, who was interested to know if we thought that it was useful to send out a questionnaire as a starting point for data entry. It It seems to me that, as we all suffer slightly from receiving too many questionnaires, that if used they should be brief - perhaps just asking for the title, a brief description, the digital formats available and where the collection is made accessible (eg the URL). This should give enough information to start. But it would be useful to hear from others, especially if you have had sucess in using questionnaires.

I would be interested to know which museums are working with which SSN's. Do you think this could be recorded in the MICHAEL entry?
We could think about creating a MICHAEL project record for each SSN project - this would include a brief note about the MLA funding, the dates and could include links to all the institutions involved.
When the SSN websites come on line, they will incorporate records of the digital collections catalogued using MICHAEL and Cornucopia - as well details of all the institutions with holdings (physical and digital).
Hello. This post is likeable, and your blog is very interesting, congratulations :-). I will add in my blogroll =). If possible gives a last there on my blog, it is about the Transplante de Cabelo, I hope you enjoy. The address is http://transplante-de-cabelo.blogspot.com. A hug.
Hi there, I think this might cause a bit of duplication with the SSN and other network listings on Collections Link (http://www.collectionslink.org.uk/find_a_network)
The idea ultimately would be that it is possible for the SSN's to publish their information to one place (SSNConnect) and for this information to be distributed automatically to related client services such as MICHAEL. I'm not sure that MICHAEL would be a natural home for these descriptions, but it could certainly act as a catalogue to the digital services offered by the SSN directly (including, in reference to Caroline's post) the directory on SSNConnect of the institutions and/or people participating in each network.
